Paris has it.
Tokyo has it.
New York has it.
And even Miami has theirs.
Fashion week is an epic event for all the major cities around the world. Each offers a significant flare and projects what’s up and coming in trend and style. Designers come from near and far, displaying their creativity and art, and making an impression on the fashionistas all over the globe.
Today, fashion makes history in Hawaii with the first ever Honolulu Fashion Week taking place at the Hawaii Convention Center, November 6th to the 9th. With 7 fashion runway shows featuring over 37 designers under one roof, this weekend promises to change how we define Hawaii fashion for the rest of our lives.
This is not some closet remix with a few aloha shirts. This is the real deal with a team of New York’s finest from NY Fashion Week (with home-grown Hawaii running through their veins). From the show producer to the model casting crew, these folks bring their expertise and the aloha back home. So, you didn’t know Hawaii had come so far? Well, check out their bios here.
So, what’s in store for all you Hawaii style-mongers? Check out the Honolulu Fashion Week schedule on the Honolulu Magazine website to make sure that you can get a seat (or at least a place to stand) for the shows. The looks are great, you won’t want to blink.
For my favorite shopaholics, don’t forget to check out the Bank of Hawaii Pop-up boutique, where you can pick up a few of pieces from your favorite runway look. Who’s in the boutique? Check out these Lei Chic articles for a sneak peak.
And for all you students and newcomers to this business of fashion, don’t forget to check out the discussion panel where our experts will dish out their knowledge of what it’s really like to work in fashion. Take notes here folks, you’ll want to soak in as much as you can get.
If you can’t make it to everything, don’t worry, keep up with me on this blog or on social media. I’ll be live posting scenes from the show and recaps at the end of the day.
See you tonight!
