There are so many things to love about October, especially when it comes to our wardrobe. This month is the start of our fall season, which means a slight change up in wardrobe pieces. It’s also time for Halloween, another great excuse to dress-up. And of course, this October is the inaugural year of Hawaii Fashion Month!
You heard right, a whole month in Hawaii filled with events in celebration of fashion in all its forms and facets. This community-driven program is spearheaded by the Hawaii Fashion Incubator (HiFi) and supported by the State of Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism. The program aims to put Hawaii on the map, not just as a favorite tourist destination, but also as a center for creative, competitive and sustainable growth in all aspects of the fashion industry.
“Fashion is a major industry in our state, generating more than $750 million in sales and more than 3,600 jobs.” – Richard C. Lim, Director of the State of Hawaii Dept. of Business, Economic Development and Tourism
HFM will showcase it’s most talented from all angles. From design, to manufacturing, to retail, photography, and art, you’ll get to meet and mingle with Hawaii’s industry pioneers, icons, influencers and educators. There will be fashion shows, parties, exhibits, industry panels and networking for all. Discover new designs with a Hawaii flare, support emerging designers and don’t forget to shop local!
